Well, it's finally here, that first REALLY warm weekend of the year... and it looks like our plans to enjoy natre may be somewhat limited. We had plans tomorrow to set out for our first trip of the season. We were going to pick somewhere out in the wilderness, probably off of FR-550, north of Deckers, near Wellington Lake.... but the current campfire ban that's in effect may foil our plans. The forest service has instructed us to contact local park rangers to check on the specific restrictions in the are we are camping. Looks like we can have a campfire in a National Forest campground, ranger-placed fire ring. Here's the hitch most of those campground don't open until Memorial Day weekend. So it looks like dipursed camping may be our only option, and there shall be no fired with dispersed camping.... So it looks like we may grab some subway on the way out, and just pack some cereal and a cooler full of snacky-yum-yums for the next day. Good news is, looks like Wellington Lake is open for day use (but we'll see how true that is).
PLEASE REMEMBER, CAMPFIRE BANS ARE ENACTED FOR A GOOD REASON. PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR CAMPFIRES AND ALWAYS FOLLOW CURRENT REGULATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS.
